confused iris

Well I have my first house (and first garden) to do what I want with. I decided to plant some irises. I went with the tall bearded ones. I got my shipment in August and planted everything. A few weeks later, I see new green leaves so everything's going well.

Well I was outside a couple of weeks ago and one of the irises, located right next to the house, looks like it has flowers coming up. Now, sure enough, its about ready to bloom! In November. This can't be right, can it?

I don't think its a rebloomer. It's a black one, if I planted them correctly, its "Hello Darkness". While I'm happy to have flowers on my birthday (today!) I don't want my plant not to make it through the Chicago winter. What do you think? Is there anything I can/should do to make sure this plant survives?

Thanks!
