Cutting Lillies Back?

My lillies were spectacular this year. Now that they are all bloomed out... how do I go about cutting them back? Can I just cut off the spent flower stems or will this hurt the plant? I know someone out there can help.

I usually cut just below the lowest bloom pedicel or you can cut off each pedicel individually if you have lots of free time.

I think the rule is to leave at least 2/3 of the stem for the bulb to regenerate itself so you get blooms next year.

Agreed, I normally cut the stems so that around 2/3 of it remain after the bloom has faded.
