Getting colors right

A few weeks back I made an image in an attmept to show what camera adjustments can do for getting realistic colors. It's far from ideal, but I thought I would post it to at least try to help other forum members somehow.

The left side is what the camera did on it's own. The right side is what I managed after I adjusted it. I darkened the exposure by shortening the amount of time the shutter was open and I adjusted the white balance a few steps to the red side.

To make this image, I then cropped the second image down to just the right side of the shot and cloned that portion onto the first image.

Obviously this isn't a magic cure all and the difference is subtle at best. It's barely enough to make me think it's worth making the adjustments, but I thought this might convince others to see what they can get from their cameras with a few adjustments if the colors don't seem to come out true.

Hope this helps someone.
