tips on how to treat lotus bamboo

Hi there,

I need advice on how to treat white powder-like substance on three plants I purchased 6 months ago, that are labeled as "Lotus", I'm thinking they are some type of bamboo because they resemble bamboos.....they looked pretty healthy eventhough the leaves appeared to be "spotty" I was planning to to put them in water, but decided to leave them in soil..I am using filtered water to clean the leaves but they are still turning up with white powder-like stuff on them??? I am also adding miracle gro houseplant food to filtered water for waterings...I use a moisture meter to determine watering...please help! Thnx

"Lotus" bamboo is some imaginative marketer's name for a houseplant whose actual name is Dracaena sanderiana, also known as "Lucky" bamboo. Despite its appearance, it does not actually share the characteristics of true bamboo in terms of structure. Its only relation to bamboo is that both are plants with green leaves.

You should check out a reference on common houseplant diseases/funguses for ideas on how to treat this.
