Are you looking for american native species or just species lilies in general?

If you are interested in american natives, I've found that looking at native plant nurseries is a better deal than lily vendors and often have better availability. Plus if you find a local nursery you can skip the shipping. i live in Maryland and this past spring I found Superbum and canadense, and will be purchasing philadelphicum (wood lily) this fall.

There are a number of more common species lilies available from general lily vendors sometimes they're listed as species and sometimes not. These include, Martagon, Regale, leucanthum, Speciosum, Pumilum, Candidum, Cernuum, Davidii, and Pardalinum. These lilies are relatively easy growers and so can compete with hybrids with the general buying public.

Frazier's Thimble Farms has a good selection of hard to get lilies, but their prices are high and the bulbs immature (which, in fairness, is how they were advertised). The success rate for immature species lily bulbs can be low since species lilies can be much more particular about conditions then hybrids. So, you need to be able to stomach expensive plant loss - which is always painful!

My other species lilies I purchased from The Species Lily Preservation group's fall bulb sale, or grew from seed.

In fact, using that, I found that Buggy Crazy (who gets a lot of good reviews from garden web members) has one of my favorite species for sale. I think you've inspired me! :)
