There is no reason why this dracaena wouldn't do perfectly fine in the medium you're talking about. Good luck!

I have a single stem of twisted lucky bamboo growing in a small hydroponic pot which LECA (expanded clay) and it seems to be doing quite well. I add some seaweed extract to it when I cange out the water but other than that it gets no special treatment.

These are "tip cuttings" that produced offsets both above and below "grade" (pebbles). Did you click through to this post on my blog? I'm not sure if I understand the meaning behind your question. Ask me another and I'll be glad to reply.

Well, they tried to deliver the pebbles today but I was not here, so the project is on hold until next week. My lovely eighty-seven-cent plant is still waiting in a cup of water. Updates as warranted. :)

kayzar, that's how Dracaena sanderiana is supposed to look. You can purchase it like that... a nice shrubby plant. Or, you can grow it like that yourself from several nice cane cuttings or tip cuttings.

Maybe we could say that's how it "naturally" looks? Many people like the stripped-cane version. ;) (And some of us just like plants that are under a dollar.)
