do calla lilies count?

I recently bought (9) 1 gallon sized pots containing about 5 calla lilies each on sale for $1 at Kroger. The only thing wrong with them was that they were no longer in bloom. The foliage all looks healthy. But here in zone 6, calla lilies are not winter hardy. As such, I see no reason to put them in the ground now only to have to dig them in a couple of months. so my question is, how do I store them for the winter? When should I take them out of their pots? I have seen some people leave them out all winter and they do sometimes come back, but I don't want to risk it. Also, there are several varieties and they all have a different type of foliage: mint julep, golden chalice, hot flashes, dark gem eyes. Can anyone here help, or should I be on a different forum?
