seedlings 6' tall, plant outside?

I started some seeds late. They are now 6" tall. I had planned on growing inside over winter. But wouldnt it be safe to put them out in the bed? Wouldnt they have naturally gone to seed and and be about this size by now so it would be safe? What are your recommendations?
