Lilies need cold period of 6-8 weeks each winter (vernalization) for blooming. In your zone this might be a problem.

Do you or anyone else have the range of temperature for vernalization or a trusty Stargazer specialist source you would recommend?

Commercial growers apply eight to ten weeks of vernalization at 36.degree. to 39.degree. F. for Oriental cut lilies. As far as I know, Lilies reliably bloom in zone 7 or higher. You can imitate natural conditions for Lilies by cooling them every winter. It will not be very easy to do because Lilies never go completely dormant like other bulbs. Lifting and storing them in cold place will weaken them. I am not sure if this is worth such efforts: you can grow so many other flowers that are tender and not available for northern gardeners.

Thanks so much. The information will help me figure out what I did wrong and didn't do this past spring. I also found out they are hardy bulbs last night and that the bulbs don't go dormant.

I may have found two credible fact sheets about winter care for oriental lilies in containers and in warmer climates. I'll share the sources once I figure things out and check with a few local garden centers.
