Japanese maple to shade a deck?

Hi!
We have a West facing or SW facing backyard (around 1/3 rd acre) and deck becomes too hot in summers. Also we have a corner lot, so no privacy. So we need to plant something around deck which will give us shade an privacy atleast in summer. We have a 3 ft raised deck and were thinking of planting bloodgood japanese maples (around 8 ft tall). Also was dwelling on choice of 'Little Gem magnolia' but it slow growing. And hollies planted near deck might damage the foundation . Do you think these trees will provide shade and privacy? Any other tress that you would suggest that will thrive in 7B?
