I was in one for about a month. The wanted perfect produce all the time and did not pay enough.

And many food hubs are taking the CSA business away from small farmers instead of using their power to supply institutions like hospitals, schools, etc..

I think they are a wonderful thing for the mid sized farmer who is doing more than 50 acres and needs markets.

If a small farm can come up with a high dollar item such as strawberries and be able to supply them year round than one might male some profit from a food hub

That is my take as well they will be more regional, advertising as local... I think funding to build these hubs is somehow funded thru the usda, not sure I could be wrong I guess the big box stores need more competition, I think at least for me growing more for less would make me way more tired at the end of the day...
