Easy. Sow 1/4" deep in a pot of peat/perlite or any other reasonably well-drained mix. Keep at room temperature until they germinate (3 weeks or so). Place plants 4" under fluorescent lights. Fertilize regularly. They grow pretty fast, so you probably should transplant them into individual 4" pots when they get a couple of leaves. In spring, plant them out in a warm sunny spot. If you do it right, they will bloom this fall.

I have A LOT of seed from my L formosanum var pearcri plants so I was thinking of making a raised bed this spring and sowing in March outside. Will the plants form a very sizeable bulb in one year that could be dug up next winter?

Do you mean pricei? I've never sown lily seed outdoors in March. The soil will be very cold, so germination might be very slow, or the seeds might rot. You will have to bait for slugs and protect against bird damage. I would be inclined to wait until the soil warms up. Or you could try some in March and some in May, and see what happens. Either way, you will get bulbs that you can dig. But if you want them to bloom in Fall 2007, you need to start them indoors.
