Cloud forest maple

I visited a nursery that specializes in Texas natives, and species well adapted to Texas, and purchased this obscure maple, acer saccharum var skutchii or "cloud forst maple" I was familiar with the plant but surprised at its vigor. For those of you who have the plant or seen it, is it this fast growing in your experience? It is already breaking bud here (which is ok in south central texas) so I will have pictures of the new growth soon.
