Bloodgood leaves turning green

Last month I planted an 8 ft (15 gal) Bloodgood maple in bud and it leafed very nicely in deep burgundy color. Its fully leafed now and the inner (shaded) leaves are turning green. It's planted in dappled shade to protect from the blazing Arizona sun at 4500 ft. Is the greening simply in the genes, or a sign of something environmental?
