Has anyone in Maine had luck with this? I have never seen a live one, but the pictures are soooooooo beautiful. It is a zone 5-8 perennial, but I seem to recall in a magazine article I read a few years ago that it could be used as an annual in a zone 4. Has anyone tried? Do you get enough growth in a single season for it to flower? The book I have says to propagate from seed. Has anyone ever seen this plant for sale potted? Any info would be great!
I've seen the plants after flowering at 'The Blue Poppy' and plants before flowering at 'Surry Gardens'. Both places are within driving distance of Deer Isle. I think that they are at least possible on the coast - not sure about inland. They are hard to start - and usually die after flowering - so save the seed - and they are sooo beautiful in photos. Good luck!
I grew this ONCE! I got some seeds from someone in Canada before it was taboo. It took three years to bloom. Bloomed once and I lost it last year in the deep freeze without snow. I bought one last year and planted it, but I don't see it coming up! {{gwi:1041818}} Gorgeous. A thrill to see, but really difficult!
