Having A Farmstand

Hello! I was thinking about setting up a farm stand this summer to sell the vegetable I grow. It would be on my property, in New Hampshire. I wasn't sure if anyone knew if you had to have a special license for this or not. And I would appreciate any advice you could give me!

I'd ask at the town office.

In Indiana and my county, there is no permits or anything. In an adjoining county, you can't put a sign up unless you own the property and get a permit and a bunch of other rules.

Check at the town office, but also talk to your insurance agent. Having a farm stand may require some adjustments to your homeowners policy.

Each state is different as are the county & city laws. I live in Oklahoma and have a farm stand 3 miles from the court house of Tulsa. My property is unique in that the front is city limits and the rear is zoned Ag. And is in the county. I need no permit in Ok. If I own the property and if I sell from the property that the produce grows on I do not collect or pay sales tax under OklahomaÃ¯Â¿Â½s right to farm act. So I would contact your state Ag. Dept. also, because I found out things the city did not know. And Ag. Sales are certified for free here. You had better contact your home owners insurance for extra coverage also.
