Acer platanoides 'Stand Fast'

A second photo...

'Stand Fast' NORWAY MAPLE - (Zone 3-9)

Acer saccharinum 'Borus Graciosa' - Foliage

and its form: 'Borus Graciosa' SILVER MAPLE! (Zone 3-7)

Photos from The US National Arboretum's Gotelli Conifer Collection - May 2006. Pretty cool trees, huh? I'd like to have one of each not only for show, but to someday collect and grow seed. I really, really, liked these 'freaks of nature'.

At first glance at that 'Stand Fast', I thought I was looking at a Hiniki Cypress for jiminicrickets sake. Just WOW (is all I could think)!

Plus, you'll notice that the 'Borus Graciosa' has a choppy-in-appearance bottom portion of the tree, well, I later learned that people are constantly taking semi-hardwood cuttings as several Maples such as NORWAY, RED, & SILVER root readily from these semi-hardwoods; Hence, the lost form.

Still an enjoyable tree and the other as well. Two to add to my must have someday list.

Take care,

Dax
