which maple?

I posted this originally in Name That Plant before I realized there was a maple forum. Maybe someone here can tell me the variety of this maple. It is a very young tree, maybe 3 inches in diameter and six or seven feet tall. I'm attaching a link to the original post with photos.

Thanks for any help!

I'd say it's definitely Red Maple or as bboy suggests, and only if it was purchased (due to size), (or seedling grown) Acer x freemanii is certainly the only other option.

Thanks! I reassured my friend today that she doesn't have the dreaded Norway. We are both on a quest to eliminate any non-native invasives and replace with natives, where possible.
