White spots on leaves?

Hi all - I'm in Southern CA, about 8 miles inland, and I have what I believe is a bloodgood maple in a container. It budded out nicely this spring, but the leaves are starting to develop little light colored spots. Eventually the leaves curl up and die. It's in a spot that has been getting sun from about 8 a.m. until 1-2 p.m., although we've been having quite a bit of foggy weather lately.

Could this be sunburn, or is this a disease?

That looks more like sunburn or scalding than anything else. Not any disease I have ever seen. Are you going to plant in the ground? Do you fertilize it?

No, we can't plant it in the ground because we have no place for it. We inherited it when we bought the house last year and from what I understand Bloodgoods don't make good container plants. Not sure what to do with it. Actually, I'm not even 100% sure it's a Blood good, it just looks like a bloodgood I saw at Lowe's.

I figure we might have a few good years with it in the container until it busts out. Which is a shame, because it's so pretty and I'll hate to see it go!
