This is the first summer I am aware of and paying attention to this so knowledge is presently limited. I have about 100 milkweed plants in my general area incl. a community garden space spread over about a half acre. So far I have seen 4 different cats. Probably there are at least a few more about; won't spy them all. I think this seems low for the number of plants but not sure and that may just be due to the general dwindling numbers right now.

But in worse news, one of the four has already died from "black death" (either the Pseudomonas bacteria or the Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (NPV) ) and another fairly far away across a road already has a black spot. It has been very rainy so at this point I am leaning towards the bacteria. I know there isn't much I can do but it still frustrating.

Is there any chance that it could fight off the bacterial infection if it dries out around here?
