Did you get all the pond plants you were hoping for at the spring swap? If not, I do have a hardy lotus that is in need of division. It is truly hardy. I have had it for 4 years and it has never been brought in for the winter. I do have a small heater in the pond that comes on when the water around it falls below 38 degrees, and that keeps an air-exchange hole open all winter. I don't know how it would do if the pond froze over completely for the whole winter. I know any fish would die if that were the case. Maybe the plants need that air exchange too.

The lotus blossom is white and about 3 to 3 1/2 inches across. The lily pads can get to be up to 7 inches across, although mine are gradually becoming smaller as the lotus becomes more crowded in its basket. Thats the reason I HAVE TO get this thing divided, even if I have to throw the extra in the compost bin.

Let me know if you would like some lotus. If you got some other interetsing pond plants at the spring swap, I'd love to hear about them. Maybe as they grow I could get some from you somewhere down the line. Carmellia
