I am adding 2 trees to our front lawn. I like the summer red maple as they only grow to +_ 40 ft here in zone 9.

1. Would it be ok to place one 8-10 feet from the water line
   to the house. i.e. would the roots create an issue.

2. the trees would be 30-35 ft from the house, as it seems
   like the red maples are a little lighter that some trees and
   not as strong, so we are wondering if there would be
   much damage if one fell on the house. Or is this a bad
   selection. (It would be better than the big oak trees we
   currently have.)
