We bought a "mosquito beater" two summers ago and it allowed us to spend quality time in our large yard which is in the middle of the woods and surrounded my wetlands! Runs on propane and uses about a 20lb cylinder every 30-40 days, ours is a model which takes care of a acre. There are smaller models out there. Cost for ours was about $500....best money we ever spent!

I can attest to Linda's lack of mosquitoes! It is amazing!
I have had a small herd of dragonflies patrolling the garden beds for the last few years. I don't know what I did to deserve them- and their acute hunting skills- but they really do help get the gnats and mosquitoes and other buggers!

Actually, "Mosquito Beater" is a trade name for that chemical powder you can spread over lawns to keep mosquitoes out for several hours. But you do get the right picture from Linda. We sold at Home Depot ones called "Mosquito Magnets" that do what she says.

Wow! That's amazing!!! Does it just control the mosquitoes, or do I need to worry about it "getting" the friendly bugs too? I don't need the mega sized one, but I'm gonna look at the smaller sizes...

Customers (and fellow employees) at Home Depot come back and remark at the scads of mosquitoes the machine collects. None of them have ever mentioned any other insect, but then again, I doubt anyone looked very hard. I would expect the pheremone used is mosquito specific.

Yep, Rick is right..."Mosquito Magnet" is actually the name of what we bought. Got it at Home Depot, too!
We have not noticed any beneficial insects when we dispose of our dead mosquitos. So I would say that it is pretty safe in that regard.
