Trident maples tend to branch low and have wide crotch angles which make them less than ideal as street trees, especially when planted next to sidewalks or in hell strips. This can be mitigated to some extent by rigorous pruning when young, but the natural tendency of this species is to grow wider than tall. Have you considered a tree lilac (Syringa reticulata) or perhaps a Maackia?
