Question about a Sunset Maple?

I am thinking of getting a few of these(they are on sale for $5). But I do not know anything about trees.

The area i would like to put them is all day hot sun,clay soil.I would also like to know will the roots of these grow above the soil? (Like the silver maple)

Thank you to anyone that can help me.

if you are talking about a.p. sunset dissectum, no do not put them there. they need afternoon shade or their leaves will burn. their roots do not grow above the soil, but this is moot.
