Staking red maple

I recently bought a red maple from a gentleman in the town I live in. The tree is appox 20ft tall with about a 3in or smaller trunk. It appears to be a very healthy tree at this point.

The problem that I currently have with it is that it's many leaves seem to catch the wind very well and it is constantly being blown over when afternoon thunderstorms (or hurricane Dennis) comes through.

I have been staking it with 18 guage steel wire run through a length of hose pipe and tent stakes. This has been a consistent failiure (the neighbors think it's funny) and the tree keeps blowing over!

Does anyone have any recomendations on something I can use to hold this poor tree in the ground until it can get some roots to hold itself up? It doesn't seem as if the roots have broken through the burlap sack that they were wrapped in yet. :(

Thanks for any replies!

Chris
