These tomatoes are growing at an unbelievable rate. These are in the Aero Garden from Gardener's Supply, that DH gave me for Christmas. They were planted on January 8th. The grower itself is ridiculously expensive, as are the seed kits. Money-wise, I don't think you'd ever get return on the investment, like you would with the earth boxes, but they do work year around, they don't take up a huge amount of space, and they are proving to be a lot of fun, good entertainment, and a touch of spring even in the sub-zero weather we've seen so much of the past few weeks.

Here are the tomato plants on January 27th. There were 3 or 4 seedlings per spot at this point.

And here they are today, February 2nd. This shot is after they have been thinned, to a single seedling per spot.

Here is the largest plant (on February 2nd) photographed beside a 1 cup measuring cup to show the actual size.

And here they are today, February 17th - at 6 weeks (43 days) old. The top has been raised one notch higher at this point.

One of the things that really amazes me, is the sturdiness of these plants. In this next photo (Feb 17) I've put a bic pen along side the plant stem for comparison's sake. The stem is about equal to the pen in diameter, although the height of the plant is only about 6 1/2 inches, roughly an inch taller then the pen is long.
