We have a mature Japanese Maple that suddenly is losing its leaves. It looks like autumn, with all the leaves going brown and falling from the tree. This is very unusual for this tree, which usually doesn't drop its leaves until late November.

A few months ago, I installed new water-efficient sprinkler heads, so perhaps it's not getting enough water? Also, last week we had a heatwave with highs in the 100's, this week we're setting records for low July temperatures in the upper 70's and 80's. Maybe the temperature shift was too much for it?

I'm grasping at straws here as I would HATE to lose this gorgeous tree.
