Gertens is down that way!

Actually, Gertins in is Inver Grove Heights right by I-494 and Hwy 52. From Burnsville take 35E and get off on south 52 then off on the next exit - Upper 54th, it's to the left.

Gertens is very good. There is a Bachmans in Apple Valley and Lakeville, too.

I live in Lakeville/Apple Valley area also and I tend to recommend the following:
-Bachman's Cedar Acres (down Cedar in lakeville. Great sales at the end of the year! I prefer this one to the one in Apple Valley. It is worth checking out. )
- Pahl's Market in Apple Valley (on Co Rd 46)
- Terra Garden Center(I think that is the name of it- It is down on the frontage road of Hwy 35 south in lakeville. I really like that one.)
- There are a couple very small places in the Prior Lake area and I have heard really good things about their plants and prices. (sorry I don't know the names of them.)

- Pahl's Market (great ideas for hanging basket combos)

I also like Gerten's. It have several blocks of plants, so plan to spend some time drooling.

If you don't mind sort of beat up, cheap plants, there is Adelmann's which is right off Cedar, about three or four miles out of Farmington.

When I say beat up, I don't mean they are bad ones, just not the pretty assembly line ones of the big garden centers.

I found all the church sales, where they put up a tent and sell plants to raise money, not too good. The plants I have bought there haven't done that well for me.

I think there are a bunch of small, home oriented places that are pretty good but hard to find.

My very favorite place is the Farmington Greenhouse. I spend a fortune there every Spring.

It is off Hwy 3 on the west side of the road . Go to the Dairy queen and then take that road and it is down the street.

Lovely quality plants, helpful people, good sales and promos, and cheaper than most of the others. Pahl's is very expensive.

I just moved to MI from South St. Paul a year ago and thought you might like to know about what use to be one of my favorite places.

If you are going to go all the way to Gerten's, you should also go to Gerten's Farm Market. It is only a mile or two from there. It is a small greenhouse, but if you would rather pay lower prices for smaller perennials this is a great place. Later in the summer (end of July?) they have their perennials on sale for a dollar. Just be sure to check that they are open before you go (limited hours) and bring cash (no credit cards).

you can also check out Cal's market in savage off of 42 i think . if you go to burnsville center just keep going and its about 4 or so miles from it.
