Thanks for the link Rick- It is nice to see at a glance what some better choices may be than picking a plant location "out of the blue".
Who knew Fennel isn't well recieved by it's neighbors! I like to grow that as much for myself as for the swallowtails-
I was hoping to see an idea I had printed there- using tall non branching sunflowers as "live" tomato cages..... It wasn't mentioned there either. Does any one have any ideas why it might not work?
I have used them for other vines like Morning Glories with good results- I would think they could be used for pole beans too if you started the sunflowers well before the beans that is.

I'm thinking sunflowers and tomatoes might not work together because both are heavy feeders. But if you fed heavily . . .

Also, I think I would plant the tomato way deep, in case the sunflowers are heavy drinkers(lol) too.
