red ice plant

did anyone else get the red ice plant that merryfield had last summer? i so loved mine but it's not coming up and i can't find a record of it's official name, i found a red one (m comething c something) but it says it's only hardly to zone 9 so it seems doubtful that they would have sold it in the perennial section

i tried to call them but they tried to convince me there was purple in it and i just wasn't having any of that (sometimes people who call actually _aren't_ clueless)

I tried red once before and it never came back. I thought that variety was good in our zone but perhaps not. if you have the tag, google the latin name to find out.

no tag, that's the problem, it was a very cool funky red too, thanks for the info though larry

Looks like at least 2 types. Malephora crocea is only hardy to zone 9. Then there's Delosperma 'Red MountainÂ' that's hardy to zone 7. The standard purple ice plant is also a Delosperma. So maybe you got the wrong one.
