I planted a purchased plant last summer - the variegated variety 'Jim's Pride'. It's too early here to tell if it has wintered successfully (no new growth yet on a great many things), but it is solid in the ground, which is, tentatively, a good sign!

Just got back from a Rock Garden meeting where I asked someone who I thought was growing it. She has been growing it for 10 years on the north side of the Cities(still z4a). Rice Creek stock originally came from her.

She grows it in high shade, in good drainage on a steep west slope.

I had a friend who grew them quite successfully in Chelmsford, Mass. Some were in the shade and some in the sun. Gave them water only when it hadn't rained for a week.

Does anyone know have seeds to exchange or know where I can buy them? Have searched the web and only one source, but they won't ship to the U.S.

I googled and briefly saw that annie's Annuals have some, I didn't go far enough to see if it was plant or seed. Annie's has really neat stuff - the shipping is a killer on plants though.

Rice Creek Gardens in Blaine will have Chiastophyllum. They grow them every year.
