Choosing a Japanese Maple

Love the gardenweb forum! Wonderful way to learn. Two years ago we "revamped" our landscaping in a section of our ranch home with all new landscaping and perennials and put in an Emperor 1 JM and we love it and it's doing well. We are in northeast Ohio zone 5 with hard winters. Now we are redoing the other side near the corner of our house and trying to choose another JM. Looking at Bloodgood, Crimson Prince and Fireglow. Should I be afraid of Bloodgood as it leafs out about 2 weeks earlier than Emp 1? Last year we got several cold nights with frost and we had to wrap the Emp 1 with a sheet for protection. :(

Our house faces south, full sun all day. Our Emp 1 is in a corner and somewhat protected from wind etc but it too gets full sun and so far with no problem of leaf scorch etc. Of the three I mentioned Bloodgood, Crimson Prince and Fireglow what are your opinions. We would probably go with another Emp 1 and just be done with it but I can't find one at any of our local nurseries. They all tell me Emp 1 has been taken over with Bloodgood in popularity. Maybe they're telling me that because they don 't have any.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
