Thanks for the emails. I just decided to reduce the size of my garden by $100. Well, I wish I could but I think I will shop locally. I already saw 30 glads at Menards for a couple of bucks that would work and also some Cannas that are reasonable. and the shade and perennial gardens? I'll put my own together.

Sure were some nice looking plants/gardens in that shiny catalog that came in the mail tho.

You don't have to give up on mail-order nurseries, just check them out on Garden Watchdog before you order. There are many excellent ones. A couple to check out are Busse Gardens, Ambergate Gardens, & Bluestone Perennials.

Thanks. A couple of years ago I placed an order after watching a tv infomercial. For a butterfly garden. I was saddened that I didn't get the 'first round' order and mine was delayed a bit. Then, I didn't plant right away, my fault, and then one plant didn't make it thru the winter.

One bulb I had was I think an orange glory. I got one flower on this plant and it was the biggest and most gorgeous flower I have ever grown. I gave it to a woman at work and she kept it at her desk. I wish I had taken a picture of it.

I contacted the mail order house and they replaced the dead plant free of charge. I should order again from them. I hope I can find the order.

From what I read about exciting gardens, I will cut back my order and order some special items and see how it works out. And look at those other nurseries listed.
