Thanks for the info. I figured as such, but I better let my better half still plant them since she has it in her head, from her mother, that it would keep rabbits out.

I guess, I'm going to have to fense in my garden.

Man... It's starting to look like gardening my own veggies are going to cost me more then what I would normally spend in a year at the grocery store for veggies.

My little corgi Maddie: she eats them.

How about cat/dog hair in the garden? I've heard that works. We have rabbits but either there is enough to eat around here or our dog makes them nervous - so far they've left the plants alone..

My dog doesn't bother the wild rabbits that get in the yard but that might be because we also have pet rabbits and she knows she's not allowed to mess with them. I tried fencing in a small veggie patch and all that did was give the rabbits a nice protected place to raise a family : ( I'd even dug the wire below the soil but I guess it wasn't deep enough. The rabbits don't really cause too much damage but I do have a big problem with the deer. What they don't eat they trample.

Dried blood sprinkled around the perimeter of the garden can keep the rabbits out. You have to apply it again after a thorough rain, and it will add a high content of nitrogen into your soil, so keep that in mind as far as nutrient balance.
But I have found if you stay on top of it for several weeks consistently, the rabbits will move on to eaiser pickings. Either that or the owls got them.
