How hot is "hot" in Central Ontario? I sat in 105 f last saturday. People did come out but sales were reduced. Hitting 3 markets this weekend. much cooler and tomatoes are at peak.

Your carrots are mighty fine, wish I had some like that. They didnt do too much this year. getting ready for fall carrots/crops.

Joe, I'm glad I decided to sit this year out, especially with the heat we are having. Today was humid, but temps not too bad, only 88 right now.

It was 30 with a humidex of 36. I had to look up the Fahrenheit - 86 and 98 I think that works out to.

As they say, it's not so much the heat - it's the humidity!

I should have been born in England or something though - heat is not my friend.

Those carrots sold quickly. I did a lot better growing them this year than last. I am planning on doing planting some more the next few weeks for fall. They are so easy to prep - and I really like that.

That would be feeling really hot especially for you. I had 1 baby in June, but I got lucky, he came just before the heat. Other 2 were in late October & late November, just long enough to buy a coat big enough.

I can see why you might have trouble with your canopy, I have a terrible time when I try to help someone with that type.

Nice chard and carrots (and baby bump!). How do you keep (most of) the chard from wilting? Doesn't look like you have it in water.

ajsmama - The laundry tubs are filled with water. We had them in beige pots the past few weeks as well which looked really good and kept them super turgid but I decided to put them in the tubs this weekend since people kept thinking they were actually live plants. I've also started keeping a few in a basket out of water so that people know they are to eat and not plants.

The laundry tubs work really well too for heads of lettuce because they are shallow. I left the roots on the last time we had them and they looked fantastic! Just cut the roots off as the baskets emptied and moved them from the tub to a basket. So many good comments (and more importantly they sold out quickly).

Marla, I'm with you. I am also so glad I decoded not to do FM's this year and stick with marketing via my CSA and farm store sales (with the farm store building being air conditioned so we don't over work the fridges in that building). Last year was bad enough with high heat and drought starting in July and not Mid May but this year would have been the worst.

OH, looks good, i am planing to like that, hahhha
