Pruning Shrub like a Tree

I would like a small tree with umbrella type branching habit. Something that I could keep under 10 feet. A friend suggested a pagoda dogwood. Does anyone else have a suggestion. If you have done something like this, I would love to see a photo. Carmellia

I have three in my yard if you will be coming to the Swap here :) I wouldn't recommend them for the habit you are looking for though, I find they go "up" a bit much, and they can also get pretty tall. Hard to get them to umbrella out very far. Have you looked at larger weeping cherries or other weeping habit trees/bushes?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check out some weeping shrubs. Yes, I do plan on coming to the June plant swap. Do you live near Como? Carmellia
