Super deal! I wish I could find a bargain like that!

I want to put flat stones down around our fire pit, as the grass doesn't grow well there and if it has rained recently it gets pretty muddy.

I also need more boulders to border my beds with. I am going to go rock-picking at my sister in law's up in Mora. The farmers love it when you pick the rocks out of their fields so they can plow!

I know they think that people that buy them are crazy. Then again it is always greener on the other side of that old fence.

I do wish I knew some farmers around here with rocky fields! It's a long, long drive to the farm my mom owns in Nebraska... and you can't haul many rocks in a civic!

I am sitting here giggling. I got rid of lots and lots of boulders and rocks from an old rock garden in our yard 30 years ago. The only thing that darn rock garden grew were big fat garter snakes and bull snakes. Our yard was over run with snakes (I am talking about masses of them intertwined!) and the kids wouldn't go out side to play. I hated that rock pile! You will find no boulders and rocks in my yard. I am just now seeing a decline in the snake population. Don't tell me snakes are 'good' or they are 'safe'. I hate them, case closed. I just hate them!

That sounds like a good reason not to have a rock garden.

That's as good a reason as any, I guess. Personally, I like garter snakes. they are fun to watch. I ripped up an old shrub a few years ago at our house in Ramsey and there was this little tiny garter snake entwined in the roots. I reached to pull him out and that little fellow hissed at me! It was so cute! Plus they eat rodents. 'nuff said...
