This is more commonly called the shantung maple and native to China. They are quite commonly planted as landscape trees. Their autumn color is usually yellow with some orange and red, but they probably get the name "purple blow" because their twigs have a purplish color/hue to them.

Thanks for the reply. I find this species listed as purple blow maple in the University of Connecticut and North Carolina State University tree databases. At Oregon State they list both common names but Shantung maple is listed second, suggesting it is less commonly used.
