Bare root plants

Is it ok to bring bare root plants to the swap or is that a no no? I was planting some passion vines and noticed a bunch of hosta seedlings. I thought that someone at the swap might want them but I really don't have the time or energy to pot them up. Can I just bring them in water or wrapped in wet paper towels? I hate to toss them in the compost pile.
