Recommendations?

Hi, I am looking for recommendations for a variegated JM. I live in 5b, Ontario. JM are new to my gardens here. A bed I have been working on is alongside our driveway (reasonably long, and tree lined, we live on an old farm). This bed is on a west facing embankment on the west side of the lane, right beside where a drainage ditch flows under the drive, creating a stream like atmosphere, before flowing into the pond, which is NW of this bed. The pond is surrounded by groves of trees to N, E and W. I would like to place a JM at the base of this slope, where the 'stream' comes out from under the drive. It would be near a large elm. There is a serviceberry at the top of the slope, about halfway down the length of the bed, and an Emperor 1 partially down the slope to the N end of the bed. To the west is a young 8' metasequoia 'Gold Rush'. The bed is planted with hostas, some daylilies, a few iris, some rhodos and some other perennials. To the south is a large old apple tree (think century club). This area is very well protected all around. I have no qualms as to JM surviving here, but am giving ample descriptions to help everyone visualize it. I am unsure between Ukigumo and Butterfly and would like other opinions. Also in the flat area between the base of the slope and where the stream enters the pond (this area is about 60' long and perhaps 30-40' wide, I have a young styrax japonicus, and am thinking of adding Chisio Improved nearer the pond. This area is bright in the morning, though little to no direct sun where I would place the Ukigumo or Butterfly. It would have direct sun from probably about 1 until 4, for the first few years til the metasequoia has a chance to grow. It has, I believe ample shade. I love the colour of both of these choices, however, I have seen enough pics of Ukigumo that show little variegation, and more of a muddied colour. I would like something that would show the lighter leaf colours for the longest time possible. Which cultivar would you choose? Any input you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Anne
