I'd love to see how you mix your vegetables in with your perennial flower beds.

After we built our house my hubby built me a raised planter with five different sections so I could plant veggies (lack of space and sunny places unless we move to the front yard).

I do have some perennials I grow in two of the sections of the raised planter and then I mix annuals in with the veggies. But I'd like to expand my vegetable selection and start growing some in my perennial garden beds out front. I don't want them to look unattractive as the growing season goes on. So I was wondering if you all could show me what you do to "prettify" your veggies that comingle with the flowers.

Ah, I thought this was going to be a more titillating topic given the coyness of the subject line... ;-)

I grow my veg in raised beds, no other plants. I do have arches at one end of the beds for vining veg and clematis on the other side. I grow some herbs amongst the perennial beds. I have my asparagus bed in the front garden and have ringed the bed with shorter perennials.

Oh...sorry to disappoint you! LOL! How are you doing with your asparagus? Does it spread throughout the years? I have never tried growing it....but might give it a whirl if I know I could give it the proper space and requirements it needs.

I put in some plants last year and more this spring. I want to get a few more. So I haven't seen much spread yet. I find the foliage attractive when it ferns, so it fits with the rest of the garden, at least in my eyes.
