Onandaga - after so, so many years it is still one of my favorites.

I put one in this spring and it is just beautiful.

Would you recommend this for use as a hedge? I want to plant shrubs all around the front of our house but don't like the clipped look, I like it to be a bit more free-flowing. Would this viburnum work?

I think it would do fine. But since it has large leaves, the branches are rather sparse. If you like some kind of a barrier in the winter, trilobum/sargentii type viburnum cultivars (and Onandaga is) aren't going to cut it.

If you decide to use Onandaga, maybe also intersperse every now and then with another sargentii cultivar (like Susquehanna) or just the species. That way, not only will you get interest due to diversity, but the better pollenation will give you lots of berries for the birds.
