ailing azaleas

I thought azaeleas would be a snap in this area, but I have three of the sickliest looking things you can imagine. They had lace wings the first year I had them (they were in too much sun). I moved them to the shade and sprayed them. They seemed to get better, but now, maybe it's lace wings again. One has absolutely grey leaves. The other two just aren't flourishing. Tiny half desicated leaves, little new growth. I do see some spots on the underside.

The problems seem to vary by variety -- Nancy of Robinhill is doing the best, though not great. The other two Wakaebisu is doing a bit worse and the other -- I think it's Girard Rose is awful, almost dead.

Am I going to have to maintain a spray schedule like hybrid tea roses to grow azaleas? Do they need a lot of feeding?
