I love it. It is so dainty. How do you get yours to bloom indoors? The one I have has a slightly different flower and blooms after it has been out in the yard and been abu[benignly neglected]sed for about a month.

This one was in Cathy's classroom before she brought it home a few weeks ago. It was in full sun, so maybe that helped. We've had others that stayed at home in the sunniest indoor spot. They all typically bloom in July or August. I can easily give you some cuttings at the next swap unless you want to come over sometime and get lots of other yard plants.

Nice healthy plant you have there. I have one that blooms occasionally, as long as it doesn't get too much sun. It fills the whole house with the most amazing fragrance; wish I could bottle that! I could stay up all night enjoying a bloom. Sometimes they are as big as a dinner plate. Here's a picture of one of my blooms. (Hope this works, you can click on it to see a bigger picture):

I have had one for a couple of years now, and this year I had at least 30 blooms. Unfortunately I missed taking photos. I have them outside in full sun, which dies make the leaves a little yellow, but it sure brings out the blooms. Next year I'll try the porch.

I have a cutting from my grandmother's plant. The flowers are awesome.

They only bloom for one night. If you suspect that it's going to bloom, monitor it closely. The bloom is well worth staying up for!

Our Night blooming cereus bloomed for the first time in July of this year- We had 11 blooms on two plants and were thrilled at the size and beauty of the blooms- They bloomed for four nights- A few each night-
This past week they started getting buds again! We had been told they will only bloom once a year and then at the last of July or the First of Aug. So we are in shock they are blooming again- This morning there were three beautiful blooms and there are more buds yet to bloom-
Is this uncommon?

I think that they bloom after certain conditions are met- a magic combination of temp, water and sunlight. Mine have bloomed only twice in 9 years.

My plant currently has 3 blooms with 8 buds just beginning to show. One opened last night and I cut it, put it in water then wrapped it loosely in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge. This a.m. it still smells wonderful and is still in full bloom. The only problem is it will only stay this way for a day or so and if you remove your bloom(s) from the fridge they will die. My question... has anyone ever tried a light acrylic spray on an open bloom to try and preserve it?
