Can I move my magnolia tree?

It's about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide and just finished blooming. It's in a very prominent place in the yard and doesn't look all that attractive except when blooming (I don't think) Do I have to wait till next spring? I'd like to put it off to the side and make that garden sort of a cottage garden.

I've never posted a photo here but I think I'll try to so you guys can see what I mean about it not being in a great spot. Or maybe you could give me some ideas on how to make it work where it is...
