did my grapevine die?

hi i am new to the forum, i have a new house and new-to-me garden.

there is a big trellis in our yard, with a grapevine that was beautiful and green when we were looking at the house in the fall. well this year, so far it looks dead-- there is only one tiny tendril that has grown any leaves; my mom says it was a hard winter and she lost some small trees & she thinks the grapevine might be dead. is anyone else having their grapevine starting late?

I'm near Hutchinson and mine are all starting to leaf out.

Best thing is to give it water and wait. Weird season so far and nature knows more than we do.

I'm wondering about a vine I have had on a fence for three years. I started it with small shoots from the Miss. River and it took off and would be full of leaves by June.
So far it looks dead but it had a good central stalk and good soil. Maybe the winter was harsh or it just decided to give up the ghost. I'll miss it.
