Sorry, that is a very big disappointment. Did you fertilize them last year after blooming and/or this spring? Mine which are many years old are blooming fine this year.

My daffs are having a great year. I think they liked the extra moisture in fall, the years I've had problems had dry falls. Did you let the foliage fully ripen before cutting?

Don't give up on them yet though, there's always next year.

Thanks for your posts. I fertilized just a pinch last fall (same as I have done in the past). I always let the foliage ripen. We'll have to see what next year brings!

Daffs do need moisture in the fall. That is when they produce the root initials that will continue to grow the following spring. Without root initials produced in the fall, no roots will grow in the spring. This does not require fertilizer, and I am quite sure that the little bit you did had no ill effect. But FYI in the future, I don't think a full dose would be a good thing, unless it was granular (slow acting), in which case it would mostly be used in the following spring anyway.

And I really don't have an answer to your question.

I have about 50 daffodils and only one bloom this year--the plants have been there for about 4 years. The foliage looks very healthy this year. However, 2 winters ago was very tough (lack of snow and very cold)and the foliage did not look good last summer--in fact I am surprised they have survived butI think they will be back to normal blooming next year. The daffs I planted last fall are blooming great this spring, though, despite the bulbs seeming to be a very poor quality.
