need plant ID please

Anyone know what this plant may be? I can't post a picture, but here is a description. Perennial, about 10-12 inches tall, has lobed basal leaves, and small 1/2inch yellow flower similar to a ranunculus and it has a sheen to it. Spreads by runners, roots at point where leaves are attached. i thought it mught be Trollius, but the flower is different than the ones I can find photos of.

I got it in a trade last year from Cheri. I have mine in shade, my friend has some also and hers are in sun.

Not sure if it would be in the buttercup family or not. The flowers are not single but lots of tiny overlapping petals (like a really tight rose?)
I will google some buttercups and see if there is something close.

What about a double buttercup? (See link). If that looks like it, BEWARE! My old girlfriend's parents had it in their backyard. They were letting it and Aegopodium (Bishops' Weed) fight it out. The buttercup is winning.

I was going to say that it was a buttercup too. The one I have looks like the photo above. It started as one tiny plant a couple years ago and now has spread to about a 10x12 foot area. It's pretty much taken over my rock garden. In fact, it may cause me to have to start over there in order to get rid of the buttercup. It's cute but very invasive.

Dug up my cute little buttercup yesterday before it devastated my garden. Wonder how it would do in a container? I really like it and it is blooming like crazy, so I hate to just toss it out!

Oughta be a great container plant. Try a hanging basket and let it stream down.
