One of the more common and popular selections of Japanese maple, at least in this neck of the woods. Somewhat vase-shaped in habit, it will eventually grow to about 20-25' with an equally spreading canopy. Seasonal leaf color is a grassy green, changing to a goldy apricot in fall. Stem color is best on newer growth and is intensified by winter cold. The trunk and older limbs tend to be a rather muddy greeny-brown. Will appreciate a bit of thinning once established to lighten the rather dense and twiggy canopy. Can have a bit of propensity to psuedomonas when young and depending on graft material, but wil generally outgrow it.

I have one in a container right now, it's been there about 3 years and doing well. But I'm going to take the plunge and squeeze it into my backyard, so it can really grow and stretch! The branches are a beautiful bright color in the winter. Mine is in my south-facing backyard- it does suffer some leaf scorch in summer due to the direct sun, so that's one thing you'll want to be mindful of.
